Brenda Houts For More Information Call: 651-735-2080
Brenda Houts, compassionate friend, compassionate wife and mother, compassionate awkward juggler of life, compassionate Christian believer that life must go on. The struggle to deal with daily life is just that – a struggle, but to cope with getting up every day when you have had horrific personal tragedy, is a story that needs to be shared. Getting up every day and breathing doesn’t make her a hero, surviving getting up does. Brenda has been a member of Compassionate Friends for 14 years. She manages purchasing responsibilities for a successful startup manufacturing company that has grown from 30 employees to 225 with over 30 million in annual revenues. Brenda is a contributing member of Grace Lutheran Church and serves on the board. A community activist for teen issues, a founding member of United Front, a community coalition taking a stand against underage drinking. Brenda was awarded the Becker County United Way “Everyday Hero” and Community Spirit awards in April 2004. Brenda’s mantra as “the mother who lost all of
her children” is the story of the personal struggle to cope, to
breathe, and to live. Areas of Expertise:

was wonderful and totally appropriate. I know that her visit Brenda had the
attention of 1000 high school students-you could have heard My pastor’s daughter was killed in a tragic accident just prior to Brenda Hout’s conference and I was hoping I would learn something that would help me assist the family. I was not disappointed because Brenda spoke, and had handouts, on ministering to the bereaved. Brenda’s presentation was moving as she connected with the audience. Through her pleasant personality and sense of humor, she spoke with warmth and feeling about the tragic events in her life. As heart rending as the subject was, Brenda remained in control with the purpose of communicating to others what she had gained through her losses. The videos of her three sons touched us deeply and our emotions were stirred as we got to know each boy and the heartbreaking losses that Brenda experienced. As the videos played and as Brenda spoke of the boys, we could sense that somehow Javis, Caleb and Zach were still with us and the memory of them would live on. Brenda’s love and concern for teenagers was reflected, not only in her story about her boys, but also through the relationship we saw with her stepdaughter who was present. She covered the subjects of suicide, under-age drinking, drugs, teen pregnancy, taking risks, safety, and consequences of bad choices. Even though I don’t have teens yet, I now have more compassion for them and an awareness of the problems youth of today face. Brenda’s experience caused me to realize how fragile teens are and how important it is that they make right decisions. Brenda’s story and advice will help me in dealing with my own future losses as well as in helping others. Her presentation caused me to think about the possibility of losing my own children. I am now more careful to listen and take time for my family, seeking to make the most of every minute I have with them. Sincerely, Chris Purdy Assistant Manager of PTSI Guymon, Oklahoma
