Brenda Elsagher is a national keynote speaker, comic, and author of two books, If the Battle is Over, Why am I Still in Uniform? And, I’d Like to Buy a Bowel Please! Brenda’s expertise is in facing adversity and seeing the upswing of it. A colorectal cancer survivor, she knows what it’s like to take a difficult subject and find the humor in it. Brenda guarantees guffaws—not tee hees, and she knows your participants will walk away feeling great. Brenda, an avid story teller with anecdotes of her interfaith, intercultural marriage and everyday living with teenagers woven throughout her talks. Brenda can also link a story into your customized request for your group.

A small business owner for many years, she now spends her time writing and speaking full time. Brenda is a past winner of the Twin Cities Funniest Person contest, has won the “Golden Mic” award for the American Cancer Society and is President elect for the United Ostomy Association of America, Minneapolis Chapter. Brenda has produced two comedy shows to raise money for GYGIG, Get your guts in gear, an organization that raises awareness for people with bowel issues (Brenda is a past participant of the 210 mile three day ride held in Seattle) and the UOAA fundraiser. She is currently a member of a trio of funny females that call themselves, Big Diva’s Big Laughs, Big Fun.  Brenda, an NSA (national speakers association) member, speaks to community, women and healthcare related groups across the country.

This talk is geared toward a general audience and touches on my experience as a cancer survivor and the “gifts” that came along with the diagnosis. I incorporate other examples of experiences many audience members can relate to in their lives.

Humor and Healing from the Patient’s Perspective

This presentation is geared toward healthcare professionals and is accredited for CEU’s. It includes many funny true stories that take place in the clinic or hospital setting. The audience walks away feeling uplifted they chose their healthcare profession.

Joy through the Journey

This talk appeals to women’s and religious group settings. It mingles humor, stories, faith and family altogether leading to a rich cornucopia of settings and laughter that appeals to all audience members. Brenda is known for her honesty and tenderness.
